A Short History of OPC Cards

The name is now sort of a nostalgic trademark, just the name of a new card set that pays homage to the past.

OPC is short for O-Pee-Chee, the Canadian arm of the Topps Company from the mid-1960s through the early 1990s.

The cards are a challenge for collectors, since they were printed and distributed in Canada. Sometimes the sets were virtually identical to their Topps counterparts printed in the United States. Other times, there were major differences.

OPC first appeared on the scene with the 1937 baseball set, just a few years after World Wide Gum shared the stage with Goudey and put Canadian baseball sets on the map for the first time.
