He's the go-to guy for McFarlane and other types of action figures but Jeff Schaefer isn't trying to be Wal Mart. He'll settle for being the official librarian/historian/documentarian.

SportsActionFigure.com, a website dedicated to McFarlane Sports Picks and other collectible sports action figures and sport figures, now features information about more than 2,500 figures.

The site now also includes 5,000 figure photographs from 11 different companies, searchable in a variety of ways. Within each company's products, visitors can search for sports figures of specific players, team lists or players in a specific position. Lists broken out by specific series (e.g., McFarlane Sports Picks NFL Series 11) can also be retrieved. A unique feature to this site, visitors can search across brands for specific players or teams.

The new site also features printable checklists by brand, sport and player position; articles of interest to collectors and customizers; a dictionary of terms; a list of links to customizer websites; and more. SportsActionFigure.com now features several brands of sports figures, including Gladiators of the Gridiron and Upper Deck All-Star Vinyl. It also features a blog and links to other action figure resources on the web.

"SportsActionFigure.com is unique in many respects," said Jeff Schaefer, Webmaster. "Unlike other sites, Sports Action Figure.com allows searching across brands. For example you can search for all figures of Brett Favre and find products by McFarlane, Upper Deck, Topps, ProSports Creations, etc. all in one search. Searching by position is something else that sets this site apart. The variety of printable checklists is another unique feature; you can print checklists by brand, by series, by player, by position . . . the variety of ways you can sort and retrieve sports action figure information is better on Sports Action Figure.com than it is on any other website on the Internet. And when you do search for a figure, you can normally see several large photos of it rather than a small thumbnail shot you may find on other sites.

In January when SportsActionFigure.com debuted, it covered 1,600 figures and 3,000 photographs, from two companies. "I'm excited about reaching the 2,500 figure plateau," Schaefer said.

"The site now features information about figures going back to the 1950s all the way up to toys that won't be released until next year. I'm not a retailer, so this website isn't meant to sell figures for any company or for myself. It is an informational resource for collectors rather than an ecommerce site. I'm a serious collector myself, so this is truly a labor of love for me."
