Reggie Bush was the brightest star on the college football landscape during the 2005 season. A business deal gone sour--one that involves memorabilia and marketing contracts while Bush was still an NCAA athlete--is at the heart of a brewing storm.
Two sources have told Yahoo! Sports that Lloyd Lake, one of the financiers of failed marketing company New Era Sports & Entertainment, has agreed to meet with NCAA investigators and turn over financial records and other evidence that would tie Reggie Bush and his family to nearly $280,000 in extra benefits allegedly taken during Bush's days at USC.
Confidential emails from officers of New Era Sports & Entertainment indicate they were soliciting marketing and memorabilia deals on the running back's behalf while he was still at USC. The deals for pro sports memorabilia could violate NCAA rules.
