The daughters of James "Cool Papa" Bell are still miffed at Topps over production of a baseball card.
Cool Papa Bell
The fight between the elderly daughters of Negro Leagues legend Cool Papa Bell and Topps may be settled in a Manhattan courtroom.
Patricia Hawkins and Connie Brooks claim Topps produced 90,000 cards without permission back in 2001. They're also upset about what was written on the back. The back of the card said Cool Papa “earned his nickname after falling asleep right before a game.” In court papers, Brooks calls the statement a “bogus painful lie.”
