The fight over the future of baseball cards includes at least five lawsuits filed in two states. Oh, and a lot of lawyers.
Who ever thought bubble gum cards could cause such a hubbub? The wrangling over the proposed sale of the Topps company continues with judges in New York and Delaware believing they are both more than capable of handling all of the issues.
Topps, with management headquartered in New York, is actually based in Delaware. A judge there is currently considering Upper Deck's request for an injunction to stop the vote on the deal with Tornante Company/Madison Dearborn Partners.
Meanwhile, other shareholders have filed suit in New York. The rather complicated ordeal has gotten the attention of the New York Law Journal, which tries to sort it all out. |
