He doesn’t carry a briefcase full of cash, but Jeff Idelson of the Baseball Hall of Fame scored a few nice pieces of baseball history this week–including a new promise from one Mr. Bonds.
His snotty comment about "taking care of me" aside, it seems Barry Bonds might fork over some kind of artifact from his 756th homer. At least that’s the impression after a 40-minute meeting took place between Bonds and a representative of the Hall of Fame.
Bonds apparently bought up the idea of donating his helmet from the record-breaking game, but it’s not certain if Cooperstown will house more than that. Hall VP Jeff Idelson spent time with a couple of other west coast history makers who forked over some of their game-used memorabilia.
