A little piece of baseball history changed hands when a ball signed by Lou Gehrig and dating from a special day in 1933 sold on eBay.
You know Cal Ripken broke Lou Gehrig's consecutive games played record. Who held the record when Gehrig broke it in 1933?
The answer would be....Everett Scott. Tuesday night, a ball autographed by Gehrig, Babe Ruth and a few other members of the Yankees, and dated on the day Gehrig set the record, was sold on eBay. A "best offer" bid of $9,000 won the ball, which seems like a bargain compared to cut signatures and other Gehrig memorabilia.
