Game Worn LeBron James Shoe Auction to Benefit School Shooting Victims

SCP Auctions will offer a special pair of game worn LeBron James shoes as a part of their April auction, beginning Wednesday, April 10 at SCPAuctions.com.  James marked the LeBron Flywire Nike shoes with “Newtown, CT” in several different places on them prior to the Miami Heat’s December 15, 2012 game vs. the Washington Wizards.  The LeBron James signing shoesAutographed LeBron James shoesteam took part in a moment of silence prior to the game and brought their own kids out on the floor as a show of support for victims of the Newtown, CT school shootings.  Proceeds from the sale will go to victims of the tragedy in Newtown, CT through the LeBron James Family Foundation.

As posted on his Instagram account at www.instagram.com/kingjames, Thursday, James added his signature to one shoe and a new inscription of “vs Wizards 12/15/12 Never forget!!” to the other shoe.  Upper Deck Authenticated witnessed the signing and will authenticate them with a serial-numbered hologram and a corresponding certificate of authenticity. The shoes will be registered in Upper Deck Authenticated’s database and then make their way to SCP Auctions where they will be offered in the company’s next major cataShoes autograph LeBron Jameslog sale.

In comments made in December, James said, “Basketball, this is nothing. These games are nothing compared to when you have a tragedy like that. It sucks that sometimes you need a tragedy to put things back in perspective, to appreciate what you have. But it does that to people. It’s unfortunate that you have to have something like that to understand what’s really important and some things that aren’t important at all. Family is the No. 1 important thing in life.”

Bidding for the LeBron James game worn shoes will be open to registered bidders on Wednesday, April 10 and conclude on Saturday, April 27.  The auction will be conducted online and will also include prominent items from NBA great John Havlicek and MLB All-Stars Steve Garvey, Rollie Fingers and Bret Saberhagen.  For more information on how to participate, visit www.scpauctions.com or call (949) 831-3700.
