Final Wrap on Lelands Auction=$2.75 Million

Vintage sports photos, a $250,000 Mel Ott jersey and some Barry Bonds stuff were among over 1,000 items in Lelands August auction. The beans have been counted and the final report is out.

In its first auction since acquiring more than one million photographs from the archives of the flagship Hearst newspaper, the San Francisco Examiner, sold one percent of the collection – 10,000 images – for more than $300,000 in it’s August 25 & 26 auction.

The 963 lots of photographs were accompanied by another 1,000 lots of vintage sports and Americana that netted the sports auction house more than $2.75 million. covers it like a blanket.
