Selling sports memorabilia and fan gear online has proven to work well enough to push one company further up the charts.
FansEdge(R), Inc., flagship brand of the Internet division of Dreams, Inc., (AMEX:DRJ), has landed at number 216 on Internet Retailer Magazine’s list of the top 500 web-based retailers.
The publication moved FansEdge.com from 289 at the close of 2006 to 216 at the close of 2007, marking a jump of more than 70 spots. The most recent edition lists 500 retailers in order of sales due to online presence. FansEdge, with the complement of all of its web properties, has continued to rise since its purchase by Dreams, Inc. in 2003.
Last year, the site was named #39 in a list of fastest growing internet retailers. For FansEdge, the new ranking, published in the 2008 edition of Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide, marks a significant gain. FansEdge also climbed from the 36th position in 2007 to 22nd in 2008 on Internet Retailer’s list of Specialty/Non-Apparel retailers.
“It is a thrill to leap frog over more than 70 other internet retailers, and to come in at number 216 on this important list,” said Kevin Bates, founder of FansEdge and president of the retail division of Dreams, Inc.
Internet Retailer’s definitive ranking and analysis of America’s 500 largest e-retailers is based on annual 2007 Internet sales, researched by Internet Retailer and confirmed by retailers. This report includes company financial, operational and performance data, as well as vendors in 18 key categories.
“With 2007 web sales of $40 million, Dreams Inc. is an established Internet retailer that knows its customers and serves them well,” says Kurt Peters, editor-in-chief of Internet Retailer. “The online sports memorabilia market is growing and Dreams Inc. continues to grow within that segment and the industry overall.”
