FanFest Puts Baseball Memorabilia in Focus

Online bidding for the T206 Honus Wagner proof strip stopped at $121,000 but it’s expected to go much higher when the live portion of the All-Star FanFest Auction begins on Tuesday.

The strip, and the hundreds of other items up for bid in the annual event, are now on display in Anaheim, site of this year’s All-Star Game.  Hunt Auctions is again handling the sale.

While the majority of the items are shown off in the company’s auction catalog, distributed to thousands of bidders around the world, some will enter the auction via the appraisal fair.

Hunt has made the fairs a staple of its Louisville Slugger Auction as well as the All-Star event.

FanFest and the auction preparations have been generating a little buzz in southern California.  The Orange County Register offers its own preview and slide show.
