A couple of sports memorabilia giants are tooting the company horn.
It’s been a happy holiday season for one big retail outlet.
Dreams Inc., through its Internet Division, led by FansEdge.com, says it surpassed its all-time record amount of orders and order value received on-line in a single day Monday.
The company’s previous single day record was 13,233 orders received with a value of $890,000 set on December 12, 2007. The new record was established by shoppers this past Monday with the receipt of 15,918 orders totaling $1,029,595.
"We count ourselves fortunate to have such success at a time when many retailers are struggling," said Kevin Bates, President of Dreams Retail Operations.
and ProSportsMemorabilia.com are two of the most successful Dreams divisions, offering autographed items, display cases and fan gear to collectors and fans.
Beckett revamped its website this summer and the company says that more than 117 million cards have been uploaded by members into more than 700,000 collections.
“Anywhere from 2 million to 5 million new cards are uploaded by members each week," says Shawn Schietroma, Sr. Manager of eCommerce at Beckett Media.
Since its release, users have put more than 1.5 million cards up for trade and close to 300,000 cards up for sale. Sale transactions include set completers priced as low as 10¢ apiece as well as mainstream (more popular) cards $20 and up.
The site’s Trade Module has recently been upgraded, making it easier for users to find other people’s cards and make offers to trade card-for-card or buy/sell card-for-cash.
“There’s no other card site out there that offers a system for users to find traders, search cards, access industry pricing, research user reviews and track transactions like Beckett.com does," says Schietroma.
