Donruss Strikes Promotion Deal With Vince Young

Get ready to see Vince Young–a lot–in and around Donruss Playoff football cards this fall.

With the 2006 draft class being tabbed as the deepest in NFL history, Donruss announced the signing of last year’s top rookie, Vince Young, to appear on the company’s packaging, advertising and point-of-sale initiatives during the next year. Young came within a game of leading the Tennessee Titans to the NFL Playoffs, making him a shoe-in for the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.

He lead the Titans to a 7-4 record, putting him in a tie with Dan Marino for the most wins by a rookie since 1970. He also rushed for 552 yards and put the ball in the end zone seven times. As you might remember, his year started when he lead the Texas Longhorns to victory over USC to capture the National Championship in what was one of the most thrilling college football games ever played.

"The 2006 draft class was like no other and will forever be remembered as the deepest in NFL history," said Donruss Playoff Marketing/PR Director Scott Prusha. "So many players saw playing time, we have never seen so many have a direct impact on the games week-in and week-out like we did this past year."

Young is scheduled to make his first appearance for Donruss on 2007 Playoff Prestige, which is set to ship May 7th, two weeks after the draft. He will also be appearing on 2007 Donruss Elite and signing trading cards for every 2007 Donruss release this year.

"In every conceivable way, Vince is someone we want to be associated with," adds Prusha. "He’s a proven winner and we’ve only seen the glimpse of his ability. His ability to make an impact on the game is something we want to be associated with and with his Texas ties, it was a natural fit."

Deep in the heart of Texas, the two were a match made in heaven. Donruss’ headquarters is located in (Arlington) Texas, about one block from where the Cowboys will play their games starting in 2008.
