Devils’ Game-Worn Jersey Auction Benefits Cancer Hospice

New Jersey Devils game-worn jerseys, featuring “PB” memorial patches in honor of the late Pat Burns and autographed by the entire team, are being auctioned off for charity at   Proceeds will be donated in Burns’ memory to La Maison Aube-Lumiere, a cancer hospice in Sherbrooke, Que.

Burns, who coached the Devils to the 2003 Stanley Cup Championship, and served as a member of the team’s coaching staff the past eight seasons, passed away on November 19 after a courageous bout with cancer.

The minimum opening bid on each jersey is set at $250 (U.S.).

Twenty-two jersKovalchuk jerseyeys, worn by Devils’ players who appeared in at least one of the following four games are available:  November 22 vs. Washington, November 24 vs. Calgary, November 27 vs. Philadelphia, and December 2 vs. Montreal.

The 2½” diameter black patch features “PB” in white stitching and was worn on the upper right chest.  Each jersey was authenticated by the New Jersey Devils-MeiGray game-worn jersey authentication program.

The following jerseys are available:  Jason Arnott, David Clarkson, Matthew Corrente, Patrik Elias, Stephen Gionta, Andy Greene, Mark Fayne, Johan Hedberg, Ilya Kovalchuk, Jamie Langenbrunner, Adam Mair, Olivier Magnan, Mike McKenna, Rod Pelley, Brian Rolston, Henrik Tallinder, Mattias Tedenby, Alexander Vasyunov, Anton Volchenkov, Colin White, Travis Zajac, and Dainius Zubrus.  Each jersey was signed by the entire team, including Mark Fraser, Martin Brodeur, Jacob Josefson, Zach Parise, Anssi Salmela, Bryce Salvador, and Matt Taormina, who were unable to compete due to injury.
