Sidney Crosby led the NHL in points – and money raised from game-worn jerseys.
His first NHL all-star jersey sold for $47,520 in the NHL and National Hockey League Players’ Association online game-worn All-Star jersey auction.
The entire All-Star jersey auction netted $140,397.40 to benefit Hockey Fights Cancer. The auction, which featured jerseys worn by NHL elite during the first period of the 55th NHL All-Star Game on Jan. 24 was available for bidding through NHL.com and NHLPA.com.
The figure for Crosby’s All-Star jersey more than doubled the winning bid from the 2005 NHL & NHLPA auction, in which Crosby’s game-worn jersey brought in $21,010 to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims. Earlier in the season, a jersey worn by Crosby fetched $12,131 in a league-wide auction to benefit the Garth Brooks Teammates For Kids Foundation
