Vintage cards, autographs, photos up for grabs.
Mile High Card Company set a new firm record with its $2.28 million winter premier catalog auction. Now, the Colorado-based vintage card specialist will fill the void until its next major event with what it’s calling an "Extra Innings" auction that will open for bidding this week.
Clearing its vault for an array of incoming consignments destined for the next catalog sale this summer, the collectibles auction house is offering 200 new lots of sports memorabilia, graded singles and vintage card sets. The "Extra Innings" auctions are similar to Mile High’s premier events but do not make use of printed catalogs.
The current auction will include over 100 graded cards, vintage signed baseballs, game used jerseys, dozens of original vintage photographs and other miscellaneous pieces.
Two copies of the well-known T206 Honus Wagner cards are being offered in other auctions at present but Mile High trots out a different older Wagner by again offering a 1910 E90-2 American Caramel Wagner card graded PSA 4 (VG-EX). The American Caramel cards are among the more popular pre-War issues.
Two other items that should garner attention in the sale include a Ty Cobb single-signed baseball and a 1/1 Upper Deck First Class Cuts Babe Ruth autograph card.
The selection of graded cards consists primarily of Baseball Hall of Fame players ranging from Near Mint to Mint. Hank Aaron and Ernie Banks are among those featured prominently. Various ungraded vintage baseball card sets include: 1954 Bowman, 1954, 1956 and 1957 Topps. Football sets will include 1956 through 1959 Topps and what the company calls a "sharp" 1955 Bowman football run.
The Extra Innings auction will culminate April 30 with bids accepted its real-time auction software on the company’s website or via phone/fax. Mile High’s premier catalog auction will follow in late July or August.
