Buying T206 Wagner a Win-Win for Philly Area Doc

It was a feel good story that gained national attention.  The School Sisters of Notre Dame inheriting and selling a T206 Honus Wagner card to raise money for their charitable efforts throughout the world.   The final selling price of over $200,000 was great considering the card wasn't exactly high grade.

T206 Wagner graded Authentic/Heritage AuctionsBut when push came to shove, the winning bidder bailed out.

Who could disappoint a group of charitable nuns at Christmas time?

Not Nicholas DePace, a cardiologist from Haddonfield, New Jersey.

Already boasting a huge and valuable collection of sports memorabilia, DePace had the second highest bid in the auction.  When he was asked if he wanted to move into the top spot and buy the card at the winning bid, DePace decided to go for it.

Since then, he's gotten a lot of attention, the nuns have their windfall and all's well that end's well according to this story about him in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
