The price is apparently right for one of the NFL’s all-time greats to sign football cards for some current issues.
Bruce Smith, an elusive target for trading card companies, has signed an autograph deal with Upper Deck. The long-time Bills and Redskins’ standout has autographed cards for insertion into the recent releases of 2008 SP Rookie Edition Football and 2008 Ultimate Collection Football.
Smith is featured as a member of the Redksins, where he retired with the NFL record of 200 career sacks.
Two Smith autograph cards were released in 2008 SP Rookie Edition Football. Only one has surfaced on e-Bay so far.
For 2008 Ultimate Collection Football Smith will be included in the “Legends Autograph” set, featuring players who were still active when the 1997 Upper Deck Legends set was initially released. He will join other legends like Troy Aikman, John Elway, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice and more.
2008 SP Rookie Edition Football is available now. Upper Deck will launch 2008 Ultimate Collection Football on February 11.
