The give and take between Red Sox fans and Yankees players was all in fun but one player gave a kid an autograph that wasn't exactly what he was hoping for.
Griffin Whitman was fired up for his first Yankees/Red Sox game. The 10 year-old Massachusetts resident even scored an autograph from young Yankee Shelley Duncan who made fun of him for being a Red Sox fan when he scribbled his name on a piece of notebook paper.
Duncan says it was just part of the bantering between fans and players that is an omnipresent part of the rivalry. The youngster wasn't thrilled with his signature--and as the Boston Herald tells us, neither was his Mom.
Later, Duncan said he couldn't believe his prank was being taken quite so seriously.
