National Baseball Card Day will return in 2017. This year’s promotion will take place in hobby shops on August 12.
The announcement was made at the annual Industry Summit conference Monday morning.
A Topps promotional push is expected to include the usual free packs at hobby shops and at ballparks. Look for players making promotional and autograph appearances in conjunction with the event. Online retailer Blowout Cards has promised to shut down its storefront on August 12, encouraging collectors to visit the shop closest to them instead of ordering online. Major League teams will again host stadium trading card giveaways in the days leading up to the event.
Shops will hand out free six-card packs exclusive to NBCD with other cards available as an in-store incentive.
Stores interested in participating in this year’s promotion are being asked to fill out a short survey form.
