Panini America goes high end again with its Black Gold Football product, which will be released on Feb. 1. This year’s product will consist of two packs per hobby box, with five cards to a box. The cost is high; expect to pay in the vicinity of $225-$240 for a hobby box, depending on the retailer.
Panini is promising four autograph or memorabilia cards per box, two shadowbox base cards and two shadowbox inserts — plus two autographs, memorabilia or metal cards.
Rookies from the 2016 season will be featured with on-card autographs in subsets like Black Gold Rookie Autograph (9 subjects). Sizeable Signatures Rookie (15 subjects) and Grand Debut Autograph Jersey cards (31 subjects) also will have 1/1 parallels. Hard-signed cards of veterans and legends can be found on Gold Strike (30 cards) and the new Gold Records Autographs (17 cards). Metallic Marks autographs will be signed on black and gold pieces, with white gold and black gold parallels.
Autograph Jersey Prime cards will sport an on-card autograph and a generous-sized swatch. Massive Materials Super Prime cards will feature a large uniform swatch on each of the 15 subjects, with parallels in white gold (numbered to 99 or fewer), Prime (25 or less), white gold prime (5) or Super Prime (1/1). There also will be 1/1 parallels featuring tags and NFL shields.
Hall of Fame Symbols return with a 24-card run numbered to 50 or less. Quad Team Symbols also returns with 32 cards and parallels in white gold (numbered to 25 or less), black gold (8 or less) and 1/1 Holo gold.
