Familiar inserts with a mix of rookies and past greats make up the newest hockey card release.
Upper Deck has released its 250-card Series One flagship hockey card product for the 2009-10 season.
The NHL's trading card partner is counting on the first rookie cards from this year's newcomers to help drive sales.
Six "Young Guns" rookie cards including first-year players John Tavares, Victor Hedman and Matt Duchene will be in each box as well as an average of two game-jersey memorabilia cards and two All-World Team cards. The latter will have short-printed cards, averaging two or three per case. Martin Brodeur, Marian Hossa and Staal are among the featured players.
The most coveted inserts seeded within the set are the “Big Playmakers” oversized swatch jersey cards, which feature current NHL stars like Alexander Ovechkin, Cam Neely, Carey Price, Vincent Lecavalier and Sidney Crosby. “Clearly Canadian” die-cut acetate cards average one per case and feature such legends as Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.
Upper Deck’s 2009-10 Series One Hockey release boasts eight cards per pack and 24 packs per box
