A UCLA fan who purchased the remaining stock of signed lithographs featuring the late coach John Wooden and several of his greatest players is putting them on the market, with a portion of the proceeds targeted for the school.
Designed by former L.A. Laker Rudy LaRusso, the lithograph includes autographs from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Walton, Marques Johnson, Mike Warren, Keith Erickson and Gail Goodrich.
Originally 2,500 lithographs were produced and only 800 were sold in the 1980s and 90s but in 2004, Mike Targon, a long time UCLA supporter and fan, acquired the remaining lot. Targon resides in the Los Angeles area and purchased the lithographs following LaRusso’s death from Parkinson’s Disease in 2004.
Following the recent passing of Wooden, Targon has promised to commit up to 40 percent of profits from the sale of the lithographs to the upcoming renovation of Pauley Pavilion and the Wooden Athletic fund.
“Coach Wooden was an icon,” said Targon. “I want his legacy to live on, I want to give something back to the school I’ve loved since I was a little kid.”
The lithographs are available in a framed, unframed format at UCLALegends.net.
